Frequently asked questions

Is my data sent anywhere?
Your records are stored on your phone, encrypted. Your overtime log, pay, paystubs and ESS information are never sent to us. The only exception is the optional shared calendar: if you sign in to it, the name you choose and the slots you post are stored on our server so the people you invite can see them. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How does the shared calendar work?
Open Schedule › Shared and sign in once. Under Share, make your code and send it (or the invite link) to your team. They see your OT slots and can sign up or ask for a spot. Post a slot with + Post a slot. After the slot, "Did you work it?" on Home logs it in your OT log in one tap. The ❓ on Schedule › Shared opens a guide with pictures.

What is a super team?
One calendar for a whole group. The person who creates it is the leader and decides who can post, whether sign-ups go straight in, and whether names show on slots. Leaders can make co-leaders with the same powers.

Someone I don't know is on my calendar, or posted something wrong.
Open the slot and tap Report or Block, or remove them under Share (tap ⋯ next to their name). Reset your code so old codes and links stop working. Reports come to us.

How do I delete my shared calendar data?
Settings › Shared calendar › Delete my shared calendar data. It deletes your sign-in and everything you shared. Nothing on your phone is touched.

How does the NYC ESS import work?
Go to Money › Paystubs › ESS import, or tap "Pull from ESS" on Home. The App opens the City's own Employee Self-Service website. You sign in there and enter the City's verification code. The App then opens the pages itself and saves your pay stubs (up to two years), paid overtime and W-2 wages. The first pull takes about 3–4 minutes: keep the App open and let it run.

Does the App keep my ESS password?
Only if you choose "save my login". It is then kept in your phone's Keychain behind Face ID, on that phone only, used only to fill in the City's sign-in page, and never sent anywhere. "Disconnect ESS" deletes it.

The ESS import stopped or asked for help.
Tap Retry first. If it still stops, tap 🔍 → "Send a problem report": your Mail app opens with a report addressed to us (no passwords, codes, names or pay amounts). Tap Send.

My Paid Detail PDF won't read, or takes a long time.
On a computer, open the paid detail site, then View My Paid Details › Print › Destination: "Save as PDF". "Microsoft Print to PDF" turns the text into pictures the App can't read. Large PDFs take a while on the phone: keep the App open, or upload your history in blocks of 10–15 pages.

The slip scanner didn't read my photo correctly.
Use a clear, straight-on photo in good light. The App always shows what it read before saving, so correct any field and confirm.

How do I move my data to a new phone?
On the old phone: Settings › Backup & restore › Create encrypted backup, pick a passphrase, and save the file (for example to iCloud Drive or Files). On the new phone: install Overtime HQ, then Settings › Backup & restore › Pick a backup file… and type the passphrase. Restoring the whole iPhone from an iCloud backup also brings the App's records along; a saved ESS login does not move — save it again on the new phone.

Are the pension and tax numbers official?
No. They are estimates to help you keep track — not tax, legal or financial advice. Confirm them with your pension system and your tax preparer.

How do I delete my data?
Settings › Danger zone › Reset all data deletes everything stored in the App on your phone. If you used the shared calendar, also use Settings › Shared calendar › Delete my shared calendar data.

I found a bug or want a feature.
Email overtimeanddetail@gmail.com, or use Settings › Help. Include your App version (Settings › App version) and what you tapped before it happened. Screenshots help.
